Accessibility statement

Our commitment

Haul Handbook is built to be usable by everyone, including people who rely on assistive technology. We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA, and we treat accessibility as part of building the site, not an afterthought.

What we do

• Text and interactive elements are tested against WCAG AA color-contrast ratios in both light and dark themes.
• The site works with the keyboard alone, including a skip-to-content link and visible focus outlines.
• Pages use semantic headings, landmarks, and labels so screen readers can navigate them, and an automated accessibility audit runs on every build.
• Decorative images and icons are hidden from assistive technology; meaningful ones have text alternatives.
• Data tables, such as the IFTA rate matrix and the UCR fee brackets, use real table markup with headers, not images of tables.
• The layout is responsive and reflows without horizontal scrolling down to small screens and high zoom.

Known limitations

The government portals and state permit systems we link to, such as FMCSA registration systems and state DOT permit sites, are outside our control and may not meet the same standard. Where a task has to happen on an agency site, we describe what to expect before you get there.
